Players are referred to the Mysterious Wandering Scholar (more mysterious than the Wandering Scholar) by the Lunaria City Guard. He stands to the left of the Medicine shop of the Healing Angel. He recommends players join a Guild before entering the Mines.
He sends players to the Healing Angel to learn to Synthesize some Equipment.
